Professional Skills Modules

Professional skills, also known as "soft" skills, are crucial to one's success in almost any professional environment, but are not often explicitly taught. To answer this need, the Office of Experiential Learning created several tutorials (or "modules") that will help you to become proficient in these skills. Currently, we offer the following:

Working on Effective Teams

Analyze the roles played by members of a team. Assess personal role preferences within a team and learn how to use your strengths to adapt to others. Discover how effective teams accomplish goals.

Making Ethical Decisions

Learn about definitions, concepts, and conflicts in workplace ethics while gaining personal insight into your own ethical values.

Making the Most of Your Co-op or Internship

Students will identify the stages of development in internship or co-op experiences and will learn about ways to maximize the benefits of these learning opportunities. This module can be used as an Orientation to internship and co-op courses.

Working on Effective Teams

You will come away with and understanding of the meaning of sustainability, recognize and reflect on the effects sustainability has on you as an individual, on UCF, and on a service site, and reflect on and challenge sustainability issues. NOTE: Additional modules will be available in the coming months.

How to Access the Modules:

If the module was assigned by a faculty member, s/he will provide a direct link for your use. CAUTION: If you use the above link instead of the one your professor assigns, your completion of the module will not be recorded on his or her roster, and you may not earn credit for it. However, if you have not been assigned a module by a specific instructor and are interested in exploring it on your own, you may access the module using the links above.
