How Faculty Can Participate

In Service-Learning (SL):

  1. Contact the SL Program Director in OEL to post or discuss potential courses or service projects
  2. Develop or enhance a Service-Learning course or teach other faculty members in SL tracks at Summer Faculty Development Conferences; stipends available
  3. Attend or teach workshops throughout the year on SL research and best practices
  4. Use student learning outcome data and impact data from faculty and community partners for accreditation self-studies, curriculum review, quality improvement efforts, and research
  5. Be a judge for the SL Student Showcase
  6. Serve on the SL Faculty Research, Programming or Event Committees
  7. Engage in focus groups with other SL faculty members and community partners
  8. Come to SL Day to meet colleagues, hear about current trends, and recognize excellence through faculty awards
  9. Allow time for short classroom presentations on SL events, scholarships and assessment

In Co-op and Internships:

  1. Develop or enhance an internship course or teach other faculty members in the Internship track in Summer Faculty Development Conferences; stipends available
  2. Use student learning outcome data from experiential learning employers for accreditation self-studies, curriculum review, quality improvement efforts, and research
  3. Participate in the Internship Symposium
  4. Promote experiential learning course benefits to students and allow time for short class presentations on these benefits and on relevant job seeking skills
  5. Encourage students to access major or career-related positions through our free online database system
  6. Suggest that employers post positions at www.explearning.ucf.edu or contact OEL to talk with a faculty member about attracting a qualified student
